Kathmandu, Oct 25 : The Ministry of Home Affairs has sacked two Nepal Police officials for negligence in the investigation of the incident of rape and murder of Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur.
The Ministry on Thursday decided to expel Superintendent of Police (SP) Dilliraj Bista and Police Inspector Jagadish Bhatta with a clause that they would not be ineligible for government service in future.
Nepal Police Spokesperson Ram Krishna Subedi in a press statement noted that the decision to expel two police officials was made after their response to the clarification sought from them was deemed unsatisfactory. The two police officials were relieved of service in line with Rule 113 (1)(a) of the Nepal Police Regulations.
Nirmala,13, of Kanchanpur was murdered after rape on July 26.
The then chief of Kanchanpur Police Bista and ward police office Mahendranagar chief Bhatta were accused of ignorantly performing in the investigation into the case.
Clarification was sought from Bista and Bhatta after the government probe team furnished a report revealing police carelessness in the investigation following the incident.
